Not quite a stout but definitely no lightweight, Cutthroat Porter is smooth and robust. Inspired by the classic London porters, the brewery uses dark roasted malts to create a deep, rich color and flavor that hint at chocolate and coffee. The beer was named Cutthroat Porter as a tribute to the Colorado state fish – with its own rich heritage and unmistakable dark coloring.

12 oz bottle into English pint. Bought at the local supermarket. My bottle reads 4.8% ABV. Pours a dark brown to almost black with reddish tints; has a medium tan head with nice retention. When it collpases after a couple of minutes, it leaves behind a blanket of foam and some creamy lace. Aroma is black coffee, chocolate milk--not too assertive, but there. Taste is lightly sweet, roasted. Dry. Highly carbonated for a porter with a creamy mouthfeel. Body is medium. The label claims this was inspired by classic London porters, but it’s very American in execution and not very English at all. Overall, it’s pretty straightforward, but very tasty. I could easily drink this all night.

355ml bottle. This pours like a very large espresso - completely black with a nice crema. On the nose, there is a smokiness which gives way to milk chocolate. The taste confirms woodsmoke and more milk chocolate. The texture and structure are substantial for a porte of such session-able alcohol. The finish is long and smokey.

I was told this was the Odell Chocolate Porter, but this is the closest I could find on RB. Nitro draft. Amber-black with a massive, steady beige head. All out smooth nitro mouthfeel, with some pronounced chocolate tones. Cocoa bitterness. Pretty solid beer. Mossy, approaching Stouthood. Chocolate bar. Nitro really smooths out the big, bold specialty malt tones. Quite nice.

Nice dark brown with mid-sized, quickly dissipating head. Some chocolate and nutty flavors present. Some fruit and burned toast. Nice sweet edge to the whole thing. Very pleasant overall.
