Bottle bought whilst on a visit to Somerset. Poured amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, hops, light straw, bit nutty and veggie. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, soft carbonation. Wasn't the best.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - bright amber, like an ember. Nose - struck match. Malt bag. Taste - light orange, dried biscuit. Then maybe orange pith on the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a reasonably good finish. Overall - ok.

50cl bottle from Tesco’s, Wokingham. Bottle-conditioned, so a slightly hazy chestnut pour with a billowing, creamy head; rich, complex malty aroma, with some floral notes; buttery, caramel malt taste, with some berry fruit; and an elegant spritzy finish. A well-made, farmhouse-style bitter.

500 ml bottle sampled in 2009 as On the Tiles. Golden body with a big, dense off-whiter head. A bit weak aroma of malt, caramel and toast. Flavor is light malty, caramel and moderate bitter. A bit watery body and short aftertaste, Drinkable, but rather boring and uninspired.

Cask at Arthur Robertson (JDW); Uninspiring English bitter, brown, feint hops, slight malt , watery texture and taste, why did I buy a full pint of this.

Amber, thin bubbly head, some lacing
Aroma - light fruity pale malts, soft spicy hops, soft yeast
Taste - fruity pale malts, quite spicy hops, pale caramel malts, touch peppery, hint of background honey, touch herbal, slightly aromatic, bit unusual, quite nice
Palate - soft carb, thinnish body, bit oily, spicy bitter. Finish - dry as main flavour with more cereal malts, very lingering bit peppery aromatic dryness
Overall - Quite a spicy beer, more flavour than usual for 3.9%
