Chelmsford Beer Festival. Opaque brown beer, small tan suddy head. Smooth low carbonation palate. Good darkish malt with a little coffee. Well integrated hoppy fruit. Well balanced stout! Tasty!

Cask at GBBF, 2011. Brown pour, no head. Roasty chocolate, coffee aroma. Chocolate malt and coffee flavour. Quite pleasant.

[500ml bottle from Dunster Village Stores, Somerset] Black with brown hints; cappuccino head. Light frothy mouthfeel is nice, but I’m not sure it works with the style. A pleasant roasted malt dominates, with hints of ash, coffee and minerals. A little sourness from plummy fruit creeps in too. Dry finish. It’s not bad, but I prefer stouts to have a bit more body than this.

Bottle at home ... deep black ... big foamy tan head ... soft big hoppy pine ... roast malt nose ... big hoppy front ... followed by a solid roast malt ... little chocolate ... again more piney hop showing through ... juicy light sweet but dry roast ... dark roast malts ... I really quite like this

Cask, gravity at Merton Beer Festival, 16-07-10 Pours black with beige creamy textured small head. Coffee and cocoa on the nose. Taste is more of the same but with good solid bitterness and good roasty burnt flavours kicking about, bit dry at end. Very nice. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

BCA bought at Humpers, Bristol. Near black in colour with a thin tan head. Big, chocolate powder and roasted malt aroma. Flavours of black coffee, charred grain and dark fruit, leading to a lingering bitter finish. Very good.
