Can from the lcbo. Black pour, large beige head. Roasty, nutty, semi sweet. Silky mouth feel, soft carb. Low bitterness, lactic notes, semi sweet. Basically their regular stout with a semi sweet lactic note. Quite nice, I was surprised

341ml bottle from a mix-pack of their stouts. Second milk stout of the night (the other being Tuque de Broue La Traite). Pours a dark brown colour with a little ruby highlights. The head is beige, going on the mocha side with decent stay and some light lacing. Chocolate and caramel malts for aromas with some dark fruits from the roasted malts. Hints of grassiness with the hops. The taste shows scotch notes, even woody, with a nice balance between the darker malts and hops. Both are good, but might put the Tuque version a little ahead.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy, tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include smoke, sweet burnt malt and coffee. First swig was creamy but a little thin. Odd flavour in there. Almost like white glue? Coffee, cocoa and maybe a little tiny bit of vinegar? Finish is plastic with coffee and smoke flavours lingering.

Dark brown. Thick body and quite sweet. Medium bitterness. Burlier than your usual milk stout. Ringwood yeast! For better or worse, still doing the ringwood thing over there. But in this beer, I think a cleaner yeast would allow the malts to shine through a little better.

Nose is lightly vinous and sweet. Medium body, medium sweet, lightly acetic and oily… boring and not great
