I never quite understood the purpose of this tripel, considering this brewery already has the great Sint-Bernardus Tripel in their range... Anyway: beautiful deep ’old’ orange blonde colour, slightly hazy with quiet fizz and tiny bits of yeast here and there; crackling, irregular, off-white head. Fruity-estery and explicitly sweet aroma of mango, vanilla pudding, banana liqueur, red apple, candied oranges, honey, raisins, brown sugar (!), freshly baked cake and dougnuts, pancakes, lavender soap, Grand Marnier, almond, baker’s yeast, whisky. Fruity taste, lots of peach, apple and mango, stung by a sharp, minerally carbonation dancing on the surface of the tongue, then shifting to a bready, honeyish and lightly caramelly malt sweetness as well as a ’brown’ (candi) sugar sweetness, cookie dough, spicy yeasty hints, finishing in drying but just not astringent, brandy-like alcohol and herbal hops, but not nearly bitter enough to balance the sweetness. Now I understand its purpose: this is a tripel for those who have a sweet tooth. Though oversweetened to me and in that respect less balanced than Sint-Bernardus Tripel, this is still an interesting beer, clearly bearing the trademark of the Sint-Bernardus yeast. Still, I would not miss it if it were discontinued - as long as there is Sint-Bernardus Tripel, of course.

A dark yellow, cloudy beer with a tall and blond head. The nose has fruits and lemon, herbs and spices, some grain. Taste is fruitful and aromatic, grainy malts, strong spices, lemony sourness. Medium bodied, strong carbonation. Basic and good tripel, tasteful but not thrilling.

Bottle. Pours hazy straw with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt and citrus, with notes of flowers and yeast. Sweet, malty and fruity flavour, with notes of flowers and bitter, hoppy touches. Good, round mouthfeel. Sligly spicy and hoppy finish. A good thing.

Good tripel, but I expect nothing less from the Bernardus brewery. Yeasty, fruity and with a nice hop bitterness.

330mL bottle at Delices et Caprices, pours a cloudy a hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma brings out lots of Belgian yeast, swee cereal malts, and floral notes. Flavour brings out complex Belgian yeast, sweet cereal malts, and floral notes. The yeast is typical St Bernardus complexity. Highly drinkable and complex. Very good stuff.
