[notes 2005]

(bottle) hazy, bright golden colour with a medium tall, white head; aroma of stewed fruit, spice; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish

opalescent golden yellow colour, moderate sized dense, creamy off-white head; typical Belgian tripel aroma with overripe fruits, candy sugar, yeast, floral notes and minimal spices; taste is the same with moderate bitterness and spicy notes in the aftertaste; great tripel

ours slightly cloudy light orange with big foamy head and lots of lacing. Nose is grainy with some dough. Tastes of dough, cereal, grassy bitterness, maybe some light green apple and pears. Taste light sweet medium bitter. Medium body with lots of carbonation and a lasting bitterness to the finish. Was perfect paired with scallops, quite surprisingly.

Bottle at home. Clear golden with big fuzzy white head. Sweet malts, came sugar, plums, strong sweet white wine, spicy yeast with some cloves and pepper, lemon peel, herbal bitter towards the finish. Medium bodied with slight sticky feel and full creamy carbonation. Really good, slightly too sweet for me but a classic in the style.

Flasche (75 cl, MHD unleserlich, vielleicht 11/2015). - Goldgelb, klar; enorm viel grobporiger, rasch zerfallender Schaum.

Nose is light but complex, dust, cloves, spice, vanilla, cream, oak, dough, Belgian yeast. Taste dough leading to caramel, dark fruits, spice, cloves, anise, then grain, herbs then vanilla and cream in the rich spiced finish. Mouthfeel is light for the style. I was a little disappointed in the first quarter of the glass, but this is a subtle beer whose charms emerge slowly.
