(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm, 18 Aug 2010) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of chocolate, hints of smoke, coffee with cream, dark rye bread and roasted malt. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, creamy coffee, hints of smoke and ashes. Almost full body with a smooth creamy texture. Generous roasted bitterness and just a touch of sweetness. Very tasty and nice beer.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Black coloured hue with a beige and short foamy head. Sweet and intensively roasty malty aroma with moderately smokey notes, accompanied by chocolate, mocha and traces of alcohol. Sweet and moderately roasty bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Roasty and delicately smoke-malty taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice; sweet and roasty bitter finish with a mildly smokey and hoppy touch, accompanied by a warming alcoholic bite. Pleasant and well-crafted brew. 18.VI.10

Medium smokiness and touches of toffee-caramel. A little astringent at the finish. Medium bitterness. On the whole really drinkable. Dark brown color, low carbonation.

Smoky dark chocolate nose. Black pour with medium pillowy tan head. Roasted malt, char flavor. Black olives at midpalate, finishing with bark. Smoke meanders throughout. Somewhat light bodied. I could do without the olive flavor, but otherwise this is a decent beer. Gets dirtier upon warming. Very earthy.

Good dark-beige head over brown-shot black beer. Sweet syrupy, caramel, molasses & liquorice, faintly smoked ham. Smoked ham taste dominant. Sweetness more backthroat, black bread. Medium bodied, some slickness, even fatty. This is a sweet smoked, not a Schwarzbier.

Bottle, 12oz, at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A dark, dark brown beer topped by a beige head. Smoke, ham notes, coffee and roasted malts on the nose. Sweet, smoked flavor with some ham, dried fruits and a little caramel. Some bitterness to give it balance too. Medium to full body. Coffee-bitter finish. A nice one, but even though it got a high score, it failed to leave lasting impressions. 091022
