355ml can, called Stout Imperial, but not Russian, and showing 9% ABV. Dark brown colour, almost black with very little ruby-copper highlights. The head is huge, warm mocha-coloured with good retention and leaving thin streak of lacing. The Chinook hops come out a touch stronger in the nose, over the roasted malt base, which gives out hints of coffee. This balances itself after a while. The mouthfeel is fairly slick with a slow building, not over-the-top dryness. Roasted barley flavours offering a tad licorice, molasses, followed by the hops that adds little grassy-piney notes. An easy-drinking Imperial Stout that is simple - and that is fine.

7/10
A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light vanilla, alcohol warmth, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice notes, light coffee notes, musty character, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at brewery.

355mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has notes of charcoal, roasted malt, earthy notes, and bitter, dry cocoa powder. Flavour is more or less the same, with dry cocoa powder, charcoal, and medium roast. Quite an earthy, powdery dry palate. Not very complex at all, but clean enough and a sturdy mouthfeel. Good -- pretty average for the style though.
