.5. L bottle, $2.99 at Binny’s, Oct. 09. Poured into a 312 Wheat glass, just because I didn’t want to mess with a big weizen glass. Beer must be filtered, it pours a very slight haze of gold under a pillowy weizen head. Smell has just a bit of banana, slight bubblegum behind that, and a thread of tartness. Taste starts with the clove aspect of a hefeweizen that wasn’t quite in the nose. It’s still a light clove. Banana is only slightly present, which is fine by me. Not as much fruit or tartness in the taste. But a decently zesty wheat malt taste. From a certain distance, I still get that slightly tart whiff that now reminds me of a red wine. Just gives the stuff an air of mystery.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts mild, fine fruity with notes of apricot, modest sourish. Finish still mild, more yeasty. Very drinkable and good hefeweizen!

Bottled (Beerangel, BB 09/2009). Hazy yellow-orange color, small to average white head. Clove, overriped banana and black pepper in the nose. Very fizzy carbonation. A bit tart, pepper and clove also in the flavor with sweet banana. Odd artificial yeasty flavor.

Cloudy golden coloured body with a very nice dense white head. Perfect looking for the style! Aroma of wheat, yeast, fake sugars, lemons and a bit of coriander seed. Medium-bodied; Assertive wheatie flavour with a bit of citrus, a lot of coriander seed and a tiny bit of spice thrown in. Aftertaste nice and subtle, although some funky saccharin tastes are noticeable. Overall, a good and standard german wheat - I wouldn’t prefer this over some others when I’m in Bavaria, but I wouldn’t turn this down on a hot day in Washington. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Lee’s Discount Liquors in Las Vegas, Nevada on 07-February-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 07-March-2009.

Bottle. A hazy orange-yellow beer with a pretty, dense, white head. Banana and cloves dominates the aroma, but leaves some room for pale malt and citrus. The flavor is much the same, the banana and cloves dominating and putting the citrus and wheat in the back. Some bitterness towards the finish. Sweetish, full-bodied and effervescent. A decent one indeed. (081031)
