A classic London beer style with a long and colourful history, Porter originated in the city around 300 years ago. While there are conflicting accounts of the exact origins of Porter, it’s clear the beer has been enjoyed by hard-working Londoners for centuries. We use traditional malts and Kentish hops in ours, and we’ve also brewed experimental versions with tea, coffee, oysters, chipotle, and New World hops.

Black with thin creamy head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of dark roasted malts. Some cocoa and coffee bitterness too. Just a little hop bitterness in the finish.

Bottle at home from Offie & Toffee. A good pour with a reasonable head and an inviting deep dark colour in the glass. A huge amount of toasted and burnt malt in the flavour that resulted in an excellent mouthfeel. A solid and extremely good stout.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - a touch lively on opening and some spillage. It settles to a very dark brown to black colour and there's a nice fluffy fawn head. Nose - hazelnuts and light toffee. The chocolate comes through but there's a wee wild yeast note lurking. Taste - milk chocolate and hazelnuts. Loads of Snickers on the finish. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Nice, long, rich but elegant finish. Overall - the wild yeast edge was slightly off-putting and I don't think I've tasted this in its perfect condition. However, the malts come through brilliantly.
