A classic London beer style with a long and colourful history, Porter originated in the city around 300 years ago. While there are conflicting accounts of the exact origins of Porter, it’s clear the beer has been enjoyed by hard-working Londoners for centuries. We use traditional malts and Kentish hops in ours, and we’ve also brewed experimental versions with tea, coffee, oysters, chipotle, and New World hops.

21/V/20 - 33cl bottle from The Bottle Shop (Canterburry), shared @ home, BB: 1/VIII/19, bottled: 1/VIII/18 (2020-431)

SLOW GUSHER!
Pretty clear dark brown beer, lots of yeast chunks floating on top of a towering irregular crackling beige head, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of chlorine, then very malty, slightly acidic impression, good roast, cow fodder. MF: very lively carbon, medium body. Taste: nice roast, some coffee, dank chocolate, pretty malty, a bit of cola, bitter hops. Aftertaste: more roast, little sweet, some chlorine, malty, soft acidity, quite some chocolate notes, hoppy bitterness, nice roasted finish.

Bottle. Pours almost black with a lovely small head. Clean malt aroma, lots of chocolate malt. Some oat notes, dark berries. Medium body. Flavour is surprisingly sweet, not dry at all. Full malt flavour, very creamy, lovely malt complexity. Chocolate and coffee is there and a nice roastiness. Medium bitterness. Quite a long finish, bittersweet and roasty. Excellent porter.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, schiuma color avorio/beige, media persistenza. Al naso note di cacao, caffè, nocciole. In bocca è molto ben equilibrata, con attacco dolce e finale amarognolo a bilanciare. Corpo medio, carbonazione medio-leggera. Strepitosa!
