A classic London beer style with a long and colourful history, Porter originated in the city around 300 years ago. While there are conflicting accounts of the exact origins of Porter, it’s clear the beer has been enjoyed by hard-working Londoners for centuries. We use traditional malts and Kentish hops in ours, and we’ve also brewed experimental versions with tea, coffee, oysters, chipotle, and New World hops.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours deep brown with a creamy, beige head. Nice roasted malts in the nose, some ash, tobacco, earth, cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavour with further ashy roast character, notes of dried berries, some leather, burnt brown bread, more earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, with more ash and old leather, subtle vanilla pods, scorched earth. Lingering bitterness. A solid all-around porter.

Bottle at home, 25/02/17. Pitch black with a well appointed tan head that retains well. Nose is roast malt, brown bread, grains, cocoa powder, toffee, light charr. Taste comprises roast malts, light spice, rich chocolate, toffee fudge, light vanilla tickle, faint spice, biscuit crumble. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, drying close with a sweet chocolate slap balanced by some hop bitterness. A really solid, flavoursome and well made porter.

Aspecto inmejorable, negra opaca con preciosa espuma densa y duradera de color ocre. Buen aroma tostado, notas de café. Café predomina en el gusto. Tambien chocolate. Malteada y tostada de rico sabor y amargor seco y moderado. Cuerpo medio. Porter notable.
