RBESG 2016 in Barcelona, Grand Tasting. Dark brown colour. Dryish roasty aroma. Roasty dry flavour. A "thirteen in a dozen" porter. One-dimensional.

9th July 2016: can at the RBESG, traded from Greg Wilson, via me. Light haze to the deep amber/brown body, on top a beige crown. The nose and taste both had a caramel, coffee and chocolate leaning but this was not a sweet brew, it had a some dry bitterness throughout, especially in the finish.

Can at RBESG16 thanks to BlackHaddock. Slight hazy dark amber, with dark beige head. Sweet chocolate, light coffee, sweet brown sugar, brown malts. Over medium sweet and very light bitterness. Medium bodied.

Pour is an almost black with a small tan head. Aroms is a nice roasted malt with a little black licorice in there. Flavor is a nice roasted malt with a decent char and ash which drys the mouth out after the swalllow. No sweet sugary malts here this is all about what can be done with a simple malt after the kiln. This is a nice dry and flavorful porter.

Bottle. Aroma is rich roasted malts with yeasty dough and hints of chocolate and licorice. Appearance is dark, dark brown--virtually opaque with finger-width beige head with poor retention and transient lacing. Taste is moderately roasted malty sweet with some yeasty sour. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, mild carbonation and long, pleasant mild bitter finish. Overall, a thin-bodied Porter with a nice aroma, appearance and taste.

Pours a nice, dark, brownish black, with good-sized, lasting head. Aroma of chocolate coffee, roasted malt. Flavor includes all of these, with some leather and dark fruits. A bit over-carbonated/fizzy for palate. This could use a bit more work.
