Rich, muddied brown coloured body with a thick, large, four centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of muddy earthy malts, some caramelised sugars, a dose of yeast and bread and a touch of figs and pitted fruits. Medium to Full-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong earthy and basement-y flavours throughout with more yeast and banana notes than expected and a large kick from the sugars, and even while this is complex in flavour, it is missing quite a lot in the middle in terms of pure flavours. Aftertaste shows the rich malt, a ton of alcohol warmth and a relatively big dose of pitted fruits with caramelised sugars and even more yeast pungency. Overall, a quite strong beer with a lot of flavours, but nothing jumping out in terms of depth or enjoyable flavours aside from the yeast and pit fruits. Nice to try, given that it's from our northern neighbour, but that's about it. I sampled this tall 50 cL bottle purchased from Le Marche des Sauveurs du Quebec in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 18-September-2016 for CA$5,90 sampled at home almost exactly a year later in Washington on 19-September-2017.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark brown color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of candi sugar, dry raisins and figs with some solid malt notes is quiet sublime. Taste is a complex mix of candi sugar, dry raisin and figs, some peppery yeast notes and candy ester. Body is about average for style with good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol. Very well brewed overall with good balance but maybe missing a little bit of integration between all the different flavours.
