Tiny bottle sample at Festival Bouffe, Bière & Boisson in Saint-Hyacinthe. Dark brown color, occasional edge bubble. Aroma of Christmas spice and port wine. Taste is sweet, boozy vinous prune, plum, burnt espresso, Christmas pudding. A sipper for sure.

A reddish brown ale with no head, viscous. In aroma, powerful sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, dark fruits, molasses, licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with pinot de charente, dark fruits, plums, licorice, loads of alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth, surprising. Bottle at Mondial 2015.

Not an ice beer which surprised me, it took 2 years to make! A side-project done in the brewer’s spare time directly inspired by Samual Adam’s Utopia. Boozy caramel and spice in the nose, it brings to mind someone baking on christmas morning. Malty sweet, cinnamon, spice, bready, gingerbread cookies, raisins, wonderful stuff. Think an after-dessert liqueur, a digestif - 46$ a bottle and yet I bought one.
