Originally rated July 2007. This beer is getting bashed for trying to look like a microbrew, but being brewed by Labatt’s. Testing both of them tonight. The label does look nice though. Pours a golden colour with active carbonation. The head is pretty impressive for a macro lager. White, foamy and creamy, with lots of retention, leaving decent lacing all around. Smell of fresh malt at first pour, but then turns into some kind of adjunct aroma. Watery mouthfeel with a certain graininess to it. The taste is somewhat metallic at first, with a little malt and a smoke undertone in the finish. Kind of weird, but not really horrible. Swill material for sure.

341ml bottle bought in Quebec. Straw with a trace of white head; corn syrup aroma; sweet with a touch of citrus and some leafy hop bitterness; but rather poor overall.

Bouteille 341ml.

Huge shiny offwhite lasting head. Copper body with very slight carbonation. Light faintly fruity malty aroma with yeasty notes. Fruity malty taste with chalky, tobaccoish notes and slightly grassy hop background. Papery notes. Sweetish. Slick, clean mouthfeel. Dry, empty papery aftertaste. Decent, but not too special. (0.341l bottle from glouglouburp.)

Bottle: Poured a golden yellow color beer with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of adjunct is quite evident and gross. Taste is also dominated by adjunct with a very gross sweet aspect which I really didn’t enjoy. This one is really worst then the rousse.
