A hazed dark amber ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light oxidation. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, resinous and piney, light treacle, light butterscotch, still solid.

Bomber bottle, $6.99 @ Binny’s. Slightly hazy, light orange pale ale color. Spongy head. A bit of spicy nose. Not much else, though. Taste is where the hops are all hiding, though; a nice burst of pine and citrus. Malts are light, probably according to the brewer’s plan, but this particular taste could have really used a bit more oomph to sell it. Still, it’s a nice, spicy beer that’s light enough for warm weather.

Clear golden body. Frothy white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of grain, vinegar, rye. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and light to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish with some peppery alcohol notes. Bitterness lingers. But what’s dominate is a vinegary flavor beneath it all, perhaps the combination of tastes from the rye and citrus. Whatever it is, it is unappealing.

Cloudy golden pour with a medium white head that diminishes slowly to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of rye malts, citrus and hops. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, spicy rye and bready malt. The finish is fruity with a mildly bitter grassy hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Purchased at the mega Whole Foods in Chicago, IL; enjoyed after putting together a Cuisinart grill that I was about to throw off of my 2nd floor balcony. Appearance is a very cloudy bright gold with a very rich white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops, a small bit of pepper, wheat, a bit floral as well, smells nice. Taste goes down nice and smooth with a light bitterness in the back end, floral/citrus notes, also a bit of grapefruit. Much smoother than the 68% ABV the bottle suggested (I realized it’s a typo, still caught me off guard). Great stuff from this brewery, really digging their 15 beers series!
