The Emilisse Stout is enhance by a blend of fine Italian espresso beans used in the brewing process. It boasts a blend of 90% Arabica and 10% Robusta, which combine to give the Emilisse Espresso Stout an extra-spicy, full-bodied palate.

Opaque dark coffee color, minimal tan head, dissipates very quickly. Sweet syrupy nose, aroma full of roasted (espresso) coffee, hint of caramel, licorice/drop, some dark fruits, roasty, chocolate. Flavour smoky roasted sweetbitter taste, bit chocolate, bit cinnamon. Full body, oily texture; full bitter coffee finish, very good.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Dark aroma of caramel malt, coffee, and chocolate. Bitter, roasty flavour, with dark notes of malt, coffee beans and dark chocolate. Hints of liquorice and roasted beans in the bitter finish. The high ABV is quite well hidden, as the bitterness tastes more roasty than alcoholic. Very nice.

Very dark brown, tiny head. Lots of dark chocolate, some smoke, dark fruits in syrup, coffee. Later some citrus too. Mouth is medium full, but sticky and slightly creamy with just the right amount of carbonation. Nice balance between sweetness and espresso bitterness. Overall very good, nothing super exciting, but well made and very enjoyable.

Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours deep mahogany brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, earth, espresso coffee, wood, toast, plum, date and raisin. The taste is roasted malt, toast, alcohol warmth, wood, coffee, leather, brown sugar and warming alcohol with a dry finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Pretty flavoursome, but too boozy for my liking.

Black colour with a beige head, nice lacework and medium lasting. Aroma is roasted malts with a high presence of coffee beans and light smoky. Flavor is strong coffee, black chocolate, ripe fruit with wooden hints. The final maintain the coffee beans notes with a dryness sensation. Smooth on palate.

Gravity dispense from wooden cask at GBBF 13, 13/08/13. Pitch black with a good sized tan head. Nose is big on roast malts, brown sugars, tar, treacle toffee, light espresso notes, cocoa. Taste comprises dark chocolate, sweet sugars, light coffee, roast malts. Full bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate, roasty finish. Ok impy, alcohol well integrated but a little too sweet to be a great, especially at a mere 9.5% when compared to better balanced examples with a good 2 to 3 more ABV notches on them.
