Pint at Lupulo in Toledo. Dark brown, creamy beige head. Nose has malt and caramel and brown sugar. Some hop. Some paper too. Flavor has more of the hops. Herbal. Pine. Big crackery malt, brown sugar too. Full bodied, off dry, some bitterness.

Keg at Central Beers, Malaga, 29/09/23. Reddish amber with a decent light beige covering. Nose is malt forward, brown bread, fruit slice, herb, dried raisins. Taste comprises toffee, fruit cake, herb, light spice, biscuit crumbs, dried red berries. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of alcohol. Passable affair ... not unpleasant but rather stuck in 3rd gear considering the ABV.

Marrón oscura, de espuma ocre que desaparece pronto dejando película. Sedimento visible. Aroma tostado, notas de bayas y licor. En boca sabor agradable, equilibrado. Malta, frutal, dulzor contenido. Final más licórico.

Review based on the BA guidelines (imperial red ale). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L67-2017 (BBF 09-2018). AROMA: medium-high malty and alcohol notes (toasty bread crust, some toffee and peppery alcohol). low diacetyl. No hops nor juniper. APPEARANCE: deep ambar color and clear. medium moussy dark beige head with good retention. lace formation. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-high malty notes (toffee, bread crust). medium bitterness with a slightly toasty and almost dry finish. no hop nor juniper perceived. PALATE: medium to medium-high body. medium carbonation. OVERALL: an imperial red ale not very interesting.
