The Eagle is going on an adventure! Packed with a huge amount of pears, he flew to Hungary to meet Szami Ali Rawech, owner and brewer of HopTop brewing. Peter van der Arend and Timothy Wareman (Morebeer Brewing) met Szami and the Eagle over in Budapest where they were pressured to brew a kettle sour with all the pears the Eagle brought over! The result: A refreshing and fruity sour ale. Everybody will pressure you to drink this beer, just the way Szami, Peter and Timothy pressed all that pear juice!

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2020) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of pears, green apples and bread. Fruity, tart taste with pears, apples, lemon, grapefruit and a tart finish with low bitterness. Medium body, dry. Tasty and refreshing with a good fruit character. Nice one.

Bottle at semi blind tasting, Zil Verne. Golden color with white head. Pears in aroma and also in taste, with light clove, marzipan. Not bad, bit thin bodied.

Bottle at a tasting, Zil verne. Moderate sourness, quite clean. Also moderate pear presence, seems natural, but also quite simple, one-dimensional. Overall really lacking some kind of complexity, this gets boring after second sip. Med-thin body, high carbonation. Med-light generic sweetness. Average. Not bad, not really good either.

17 August 2019. At Gents Bierfestival X. Cheers to Anke, Kevin & the crew! Clear yellow, lasting, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of unripe pear, apple, mandarin, papaya, yoghurt, grain, honey. Taste is light to medium fruity sour, lots of unripe pear & (green) apple with a lemony-wheaty edge, perfumey character pairing with sweetish pineapple & peach, hinting at 'winegums', constant bready maltiness. Dryish, floral hoppy finish yet restrained, quite tart, more pear, wheat & bread. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. 'Kettle sourness' & pear working together well.
