American Black IPA. It is brewed with Simcoe, Centennial, and Amarillo hops paired with a carefully considered addition of roasted malt. Following extended cold-conditioning, Raven pours a super dark brown to black color in the glass, leaving behind a dense and rocky head. In its aroma and taste, it conjures perceptions of citrus and pine balanced by sturdy light chocolate and roasted malt character. In spite of its relatively simple construction, it presents with a hefty amount of character and intrigue.

Pours mahogany tinged black into a shaker. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Dark chocolate aromas. Soft with chocolate and tobacco upfront turning to dark resin and earth in the lasting finish.

Acquired a can in a trade with tfontana, thanks Tom! Killer trade this round of cans! Flavor shows light citrus with plenty of piney hops behind them. Nice lingering citrus with plenty lasting pine hops in the finish

Can pour from the brewery. Appearance is opaque dark brown/black with nice effervescence at the edges of the glass, finger width beige foamy head with fair retention and light lacing. Aroma is sweet roasted malts and pine balance. Taste is moderate roasted malts and requisite piney bitter offset. Mouthfeel is medium side of light to medium bodied with smooth texture soft to average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall a fairly straightforward representative of the style. Well crafted but not terribly complex.
