American Black IPA. It is brewed with Simcoe, Centennial, and Amarillo hops paired with a carefully considered addition of roasted malt. Following extended cold-conditioning, Raven pours a super dark brown to black color in the glass, leaving behind a dense and rocky head. In its aroma and taste, it conjures perceptions of citrus and pine balanced by sturdy light chocolate and roasted malt character. In spite of its relatively simple construction, it presents with a hefty amount of character and intrigue.

Can at home from J and B Craft Drinks, Amsterdam, in the Garden, 17th May 24. Pours perfectly black. Aroma is aromatic, cocoa, roasted malts. Taste is soft and smooth, cocoa, mellow, aromatic, light citrus, and chocolate well integrated. Decent BIPA, for a TH it didn’t blow me away.

Can shared at Gent tasting. Opaque black color, average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, brown malts, soft roast, light hop notes but I wanted more to contra balance the roasty malts. Solid, but not superb imo.

Clear dark brown to black beer, creamy beige irregular head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lovely, very resinous, hoppy, soft roast, funky, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, very bitter, funky, hoppy, very dark roast, some coffee grit, decent!

Pours a very, very dark brown, very near to black. Medium, creamy, slightly tanned and stable foam. Scent is roasty, malty, chocolate, harsh earhty / green hops but they present a smooth combo with the malts, somehow. Taste is roasty up front, chocolate, bit bitter as well - dark chocolate comes to mind - very maltforward. Hops provide the bitter backbone, but also some aroma - all be it less fruity than the pale counterparts of breweries alike 3H. Well balanced, lovely and very drinkable BIPA - without being overly specific, perhaps.

Tewks draught, 1/27/23. Clear dark chocolate. Small, dark beige head of moderate retention. Choco-caramel-citrus provides a nice balance between light roast, sticky sweetness and bitter hop. Clean, no alcohol or resin. Juicy citrus-pine with soft coffee and buttercream suggestions as gentle roasted malts mix with base malts and well-presented hops. Maybe not quite as rich and developed a maltiness as, say, S&S 2, but that's a really high bar. It is incredibly drinkable without any excessive sweetness, roast or bitterness.

473ml can. Quasi black colour with average, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, beige head. Slightly cautious, more condensed than intense, roasty, dark malty and piney, slightly resinous, minimally citrusy fruity and grassy, hoppy aroma, hints of coffee and liquorice, whiffs of woodruff. Taste is quite bitter - a bitterness of roasty dark malty and hoppy origin; hints of coffee, liquorice, darkest chocolate, oily cocoa, subtle residual sweetness, resinous, piney, slightly herbal hoppy notes of spruce, pine, some woodruff, conifer forest, a touch of eucalyptus; lingering, bitter, herbal, piney, hoppy finish. Full body, oily to viscous texture, smooth, soft, slightly greasy, simultaneously slightly dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Very nice vagueness of flavours: no oscillation between flavours, no ambiguity nor in-explicitness, nevertheless somehow unseizable flavours; the more you concentrate on any aspect exactly this one slips away and others push forward; but only to prove to be as slithery if you focus your attention on them. A bit underrated at 3.7 points only.

Black with light brown head - Malt aroma with hints of roast and a good fruity hop aroma as well - Malt body with some roasted and a good hop that has some fruity and herbal flavours with a good bitterness - The hop flavours and bitterness goes into the finish - This was good
