Can from Beer Boutique, New York. Dark malt with cherries, caramel, toffee, touch of raisins, dark/red fruits. Touch of red wine. Sweet flavour, medium body. Pretty sweet, strong red fruits, some wine, nice.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with red highlights when held to a light. Small beige head that has decent retention. The aroma is soft with wine notes and some belgian yeast. The taste was rather odd with bitter oak barrel, and perhaps cooked onions. The palate was full and the carbonation soft. Finished short and dry. Overall: meh. I suspect this may have been infected or mishandled. Drainpour

Translucent, slightly hazy dark copper-red-brown body, thin cream head. Aroma phenolic with plums, toffee, and layered breads, with tangy/sweet notes from the barrel. Body more vinous than suggested by the nose, with tart red wine accentuating yet obscuring the sour kriek element, backed by toffee, spicy esters, rubber cement, and warming alcohol. Pretty much what I expected. Count me among those who much prefer the base version.

This is good. Lots of male, red wine flavor, some cherry and dried fruit. Clearly Belgian in style.

16 ounce can. Slightly hazy amber brown color. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with notes of dark cherries and oak. Flavor is sweet caramel, cherry, oak and dark dried fruit. Complex layers of flavor. The wine barrel aging adds an extra layer of sweet vinous goodness. Not as good as the original, but very tasty nonetheless.

Masterfully done. Florals, apricot and plum. Pours dark brown with a little head. A touch of oak but we'll integrated like the arrow passed through your body. Wine is just a hint too, and cherry as well. A little tang and sweetness on the finish. Very nice stuff. Can.

Reddish-brown pour, light tan head. It smells of dark fruit and malt. The flavor is sweet with dark fruit, especially cherries and other berries, with Belgian yeast and malt. Very tasty.
