The Goldparmäne (in English, King of the Pippins), probably originated in Normandy around 1510, and is one of the oldest cultivated apple varieties around. But it has almost disappeared from the range of modern commercial cultivation. It is a wonderful apple that deserves to be presented as a varietal cider.

20/11/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear pale gold with a short lasting bubbly white head. Aroma of green apple, light funky notes, touch of citrus and berry. Light to moderate sweetness, moderate tartness and body. Slight oily texture, quite fizzy. Semi-dry finish.

Sample, many thanks to danlo! Pours a generally clean, oily gold. Aroma brings light caramel, stewed apple. Fine, almost soft natural carbonation. Tart introduction with a pleasant medium dry character, natural wild acidity with crisp apple skin notes. Finishes dry. Not bad.

330ml bottle from Kerteleiter. Golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of apple, bready, funky. Taste is fruity apple, some tartness, apple flesh & skin, with citric acidity. Slick mouthfeel, medium bodied, light carbonation, dry finish. Quite drinkable.
