8/10
Oldschool imperial stout, aged in nice whisky barrels. Lots of traditional flavours that you'd expect; roasty coffee, hint of licorice, and from the barrel a bit of sweetness, light caramel, wood. Very tasty, nicely balanced.

Keg, third at Northern Monk Refectory MCR, shared with Finn. Tan-head, slowly diminishing. Black body, scattered lacing. Promising smell of dark malty fruit with a peaty touch. Chocolate malts, dark fruits and molasses to the flavour profile. Warming sweet malty ending, sustained by a peaty input. Full bodied. Lovely stuff. (Manchester 25.01.2020).

Keg at the Two-Tailed Lion in Leicester. Black with an indigo hue, layer of brown head with lots of lacing. Whisky and chocolate fudge on the nose. Bittersweet taste with a whisky sourness. Long gritty finish. Low carbonation. Not overly exciting but solid.

Keg @ Buxton Tap House, Buxton. Pours very dark brown, very dark foamy head. Lots of speyside jumping out on the nose, alongside a confident roasty bitterness. Big speyside to taste with a warming peaty character, nutty shades, lots of roasted malt, toasted oak. Big flavours going on here.

Sampled from the tap at Ølgod. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with barrel, bitter roast and a hint of whisky backing. Flavor has strong roasted malts and whisky barrel with a nice backbone of dark grain and chocolate.

Tap @ Pikkulintu Ruttopuisto, Helsinki. Poured pretty much black in color with a thin off white head. Roasty nose, lots of barrel notes showing, some peat and light smoke. Whisky, roastedness, smoothness in the long finish. Aggressive barrel. Tasty nonetheless
