We’ve started out with a malt base of pale malt, rye, dark crystal and carafa3 to give a slightly caramelised, spicy and dark base while being restrained on roast character. A hop bill of Amarillo, Cascade, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Centennial pairs with the malt to make the beer deliciously chewy, dank, piney and floral.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from All Good Beer. Pours black with a hearty, frothy khaki head. Nicely roasted malts crossed with toasted pine, some fleshy orange, burnt brown bread, mellow milk chocolate, nips of grapefruit and earth, a hint of raw hop burn, light alcohol. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some burnt piney resin, bitter cocoa, roast, more rindy citrus. Solid overall.

440ml can. Pours black (actually black! not dark brown) with a great big tan head. Aroma of piney hops, coffee, roast malts, chocolate. Taste of pine, grapefruit, dark chocolate, roast coffee and malts, bitter. Medium-full bodied, quite thick for the strength. Excellent BIPA.
