440ml can. Poured almost black in colour with a big, lasting, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, big dry coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet and liqourice bitter, with a roasty, liqourice, light chocolate, coffee palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nice, but a little light and too highly carbonated for a stout IMO.

Taster. Pitch black, larger coffee colored head, prettly lasting. Mild chocolate nose with some roasted and coffee notes, not too prominent, though. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness and roasted finish. Has some coffee character but again, not too much. Medium body. Nicely drinkable and enjoyable.

16/10/2021. Can from Hopsters, Ipswich. Pours almost black with a creamy beige head. Aroma of coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, roasted malt, hints of liquorice and berry. Medium plus sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Sweet finish.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from M&S Hackney Central. Pours black with an immaculate, foamy mocha topping. Medium sweet with rich dark chocolate, sturdy roast, black coffee, toasted brown bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Light sticky charred malts to finish, baking cocoa, staunch roast, earth, espresso. Really good stuff. A grower.

Can from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours jet black with a thin creamy beige head. Aromas of rich coffee and dark chocolate with a hint of liquorice. Taste is again more coffee and chocolate and some more liquorice coming through. Some added notes of treacle and syrup. Medium body with a very smooth velvety mouthfeel. Nice but very rich and i wouldn’t want to drink more than one at a time.
