Can from M&S. It pours black with a decent tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, earthy roast, big coffee character, dark chocolate covered coffee bean, nutty, dull smoke and tobacco. The taste is dry and bitter, earthy roast, ashy and charred, smoke, plenty of coffee, dark chocolate coffee beans, spicy, nutty and burnt toast with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough, but lacks a bit of depth.

440ml can from Marks & Spencer. Almost black in colour and opaque, with a thin, beige, head. Aroma of coffee beans and toasty malts, with plain chocolate in the background. Aroma had some creamy porridge character upfront, before some denser coffee character and dark chocolate sweetness, leading to a lingering, toasty finish with a boozy kick. Excellent.

440ml can - Pours black with a large lasting foamy tan head. The aroma is a chocolate, bitter coffee and roasted malts. The taste is sweet, roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla and light spicy flavours with a smooth sweet roasted finish.

Creamy tan head stayed on a still black body. Espresso, malt & dark chocolate aroma. Medium to full bodied, smooth, creamy & clean on the back. Malt, caramel, dark chocolate & coffee tastes with a long tangy fruity finish. Good one.

440ml can delivered from the Real Ale Classroom, Leicester and drunk at home. Lively dark colour, velvety with a mid-brown head. Lots of fresh coffee in the aroma, a little bit of chocolate. Ambrosual taste with an incredible amount of sweetened black coffee character. Some hop bitterness in the finish. Filter coffee and butter cooking chocolate in the aftertaste. Thick, creamy body, low to medium carbonation. Amazing even by Arbor's high standards.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, decent tan head. Smooth palate, a little silky, reasonable fine carbonation. A cold Cappuccino vibe here, quite creamy. A decent coffee undertone but it's a bit tangy. Mellow chocolate fudge, nice. Smooth finish. Nearly a good one, certainly decent. Just the tang to the coffee is an unwanted distraction.

Can from Bottles & Books. Black body with a thick tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of coffee, hazelnut and prune. Flavour of espresso and charred wood. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. An excellent beer, rich and bitter. Great value too.

440ml can from M&S - Jet black body, tan head. Aromas of espresso, toffee, chocolate, sugary. Taste leads off with creamy coffee, some roasted notes, eases of with a slightly bitter finish. Nice and oily gobfeel. Lush.

Keg at Heidrun, 08/12/20. Pitch black with a handsome tan cap. Nose is dark malts, coffee, mellow roast, treacle toffee, cacao nip. Taste comprises chocolate, vanilla essence, coffee cake, light spice, roast malts, dried fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bitter sweet roasted close. Decent well rounded flavoursome stout.

Pours near black with a foamy tan head, and a mellow coffee aroma - not the full-on coffee experience I was expecting. Has a medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel and a surprising bitterness, with dark chocolate to the fore in the taste alongside roasted malt and some coffee notes
