Forbidden Wizards is a huge Imperial Stout we brewed up with the incredible Voodoo Brewery from Meadville, Pennsylvania. These guys are masters, or should we say, wizards, when it comes to this style of beer. We also worked with two of our amazing neighbours to make the freshest and most flavourful beer of this style we could. We have packed in an enormous amount of cacao from Luisa’s Vegan Chocolates then followed this up with an equally enormous load of coffee from Stewarts of Trent Bridge to further intensify the flavour.

CD 181219. Pours velvety black, traces of light brown foam. Smells heavy roasty coffee. Smooth mouthfeel, fair thickness, but vanishes quickly. Taste is bitter, roasty, some pepper first but quickly going to a long fade-out of chocolate covered coffee.

Taster at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks. black color, almost no head. smells coffee, coffee grounds, spices, light cinnamon, light soy sauce, licorice, tobacco. nice smell. full body, light carbonation. tastes soy sauceish, some coffee grounds, peppery, spices, licorice, some marzipan, nutty, hazelnuts, some cinnamon. finishes bit dry and lightly roasty with notes of cinnamon, nutty and coffee notes. cinnamon comes through quite nicely once it warms up, overall flavours are a bit all over the place, bit heavy on the soy sauce and peppery notes for me. still very nice one though.

440 ml can from MBC, canned 18/12/19. Black body, with a medium, creamy, tan head. Aroma of freshly grinded coffee, soy sauce, dark chocolate, liquorice, tobacco, cocoa powder Tastes similar, with subtle dark fruits. Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes warm, roasty, medium dry, wooden, with coffee beans, cocoa powder, liquorice, tobacco, moderate soy sauce. Tasty! Really robust and big, while still quite smooth to drink, with just enough underlying sweetness for a great balance. Beautiful, distinct coffee notes throughout. Lovely, warming sipper. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17
