Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is liquorice with vanilla, spicy rum, wood, raisin, cane sugar, caramel malt, alcohol, and toffee. Flavour is quite sweet with a boozy finish. Body is full. Pretty nice rum character but I'm just not a fan of the base beer, way too heavy on the liquorice. That being said, I enjoyed this one slightly better than the regular Capt. Blackbird.

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', bottled in October 2020. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and slightly fruity aroma of dark chocolate, hazelnut, coffee, vanilla and a touch of rum. Rather sweet, malty, quite roasty and minimally fruity taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, some vanilla and hints of rum, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, quite earthy finish. Full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pretty intense and roasty Impy with minor barrel influence. Way more balanced and harmonious than its bourbon counterpart, pretty good!

Bottle. Black. Soft roast, caramel, vanilla powder in the ar9ma. Roastbitter flavor, not too sweet, with vanilla powder and a hint of rum. Long roastbitter Vanilla finish, but somewhat lacking in balance.

Bottle thanks to my brother. Black, small head. Massive vanilla and roast here. Some rum, licorice, earthy, dry oak, caramel, blueberries. Solid medium sweet and quite bitter. Full bodied with a bit dry finish. Nice, but a bit dry and bitter.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Rum and vanilla dominating the aroma. Roast, peat even. Malty sweet, caramelly flavor. Licorice. Vanilla. Herbal notes. Chocolate. Jamaica rumbonen die in een dropzakje hebben gezeten, zoiets. Peat. Milkpowder. Interesting, tasty and aromatic but out of balance.

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', bottled in April 2018. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and a little boozy aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, some rum and a touch of vanilla. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice, lots of coffee, some rum and just a touch of vanilla, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, slightly earthy, a bit warming but not boozy finish. Full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Extremely pleasant, well-balanced and still rather thick beer. Rum is not one of my favourite barrels but this one turned out very well!

Sampled @ my one and only THT 2018. Opaque pitch black color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, some roast, slight rum maybe. Medium body and soft carbonation. Nice!

THT July at Kwartje. Black with thin light tan head. Big sweet roasted chocolate malts, big roasted barley, rye, rum, tobacco, toffee. Big sweet and roasted. Full body and soft carbonation. Nice one.
