The Hofbräu tent at the Oktoberfest is known for its lively atmosphere. Here is where the world comes to celebrate. Down Under in Lederhosen. Of course, the most popular folk festival in the world wouldn't be complete without a very special beer: Hofbräu Oktoberfest beer is a full-bodied, bottom-fermented specialty beer. With its fine hoppy aroma, it’s perfect alongside a classic Oktoberfest roasted chicken.

500ml bottle from the Lidl festbier box. Pours a clear gold, bubbly white head. Caramel nose. Taste presents a good balanced caramelised malt character, bready notes, mild honey moments, light carbonation. Ok.

Tap 2023. Golden, clear, white foam. Aroma: sweetish, malty, cookies, slightly spicy-herbal hops and alcohol. Taste: malty, candy, cookies, alcoholic-hop bitterness at the finish, not the best.

Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a clear golden colour with a large thick throthy white head. Aromas of sweet grains, hay and bread with light hints of honey and lemon. Taste has more grains, hay, bread and honey. Very malty with just a hint of grassy hop on the sweetish finish. Full body, average carbonation and and slightly oily mouthfeel. Decent beer. Slightly above average Marzen.

Bottle from the Aldi/Kalea Oktoberfest box. Brooklands branch. Aroma is biscuity, which light citrus and an earthy streak. Clear gold. Thick foamy white head. Initial big hit of sweet citrus and biscuits. Sherbert. Develops a grainy and metallic edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Decent.
