Half-pint, cask ale at Ostrich Inn in Peterborough. Shared with Finn. Black in the glass. dotted spots from a dissipating fawn-coloured head. Mid-sweet chocolate malts on the nose, quite inviting. Chocolate flavours, o'boy like, hints of coffee towards the ending. Quite alright. (11.02.2019).

Gravity cask from the Real Ale Classroom, Lutterworth. Very dark brown, opaque and flat. Sumptuous scent of chocolate fudge syrup and French vanilla with a touch of roast coffee. Tastes quite bitter for a sweet stout. The lactose provides some sweetness but it's overcome by the tenacity of the roast malt. Mouthfeel is flat and oily. Nicely put together.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, very dark ruby red. Thin, dense, lasting, light tan head. Nose has hot chocolate powder. And really, that’s it. Very milky and very chocolatey. Taste is milky sweet. Trace of bitterness. Light body. Too much carbonation here. Feels like a fizzy lager. Some dryness towards the end reigns the sweetness in.
