Cask at Station East, Gateshead. Gluten Free. Black colour, beige bubbly foam head and aroma of dark malt, raisins, chocolate. Taste is sweet, rich malty, milk chocolate, raisin, dark fruits, coffee, with roasted bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable

Bottle. Pours deep brown towards black with a tan swede. Aroma: roasted malts, burnt malts, dark chocolate, coffee, hints of smoke. Taste: moderate sweet & bitter, lots of roasted malt character, chocolate, some coffee. Medium body with soft carbonation.

Cask @ The Trackside, Bury. Pours amber copper with a small creamy head. Smoke, ashes and slightly roasted malts. Smooth.

Bottle from Bowland Brewery shop. Appearance - deep brown to acknowledge and opaque. Creamy off white head. Nose - bran flakes, chocolate, an edge of liquorice and light roast. Taste - smoke, with an edge of liquorice again. Dark chocolate lurking. Palate - medium bodied with a roasty finish. Overall - good.

Bottle thanks to my step-dad. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of cocoa and light liquorice. Taste is more of the same. Roast and light smoke on the finish.

ABV: 4.5%. Clear dark brown colour with a small, frothy - fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, dark malt, chocolate. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, dark malt, roasted - chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20200122]

Bottle from random SPAR in the suburbs of Lancaster. Nice head with good duration. Color is close to black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, little lactose, chocolate, licorice and hops. Nice bitter finish.

Bottle from Spar store, just outside Lancaster. Clear very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. 090220

500ml bottle; BBE Jun 2020. Drank at home on 26th Nov 2019. Nice, easy drinking Stout, looked the part; dark brown with a tanned topping. Malty, semi-sweet, semi-bitter, good body depth and flavoursome.

Cask ale, shared with Finn at Sun Hotel & Bar in Lancaster. Creamy off-white head leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Jet black appearance. Roasted malty nose with bread and dark chocolate. Mid-sweet taste of chocolate and dough. Ends slightly roasted. Decent stout. (06.02.2019).
