Tap @ Patricks. This will probably be an alias for Spicy Christmas 2013, anyway this is my rating for the stuff I was served today (March 2016). Totally hazy dark orange body with a medium sized, lacing tan head. A bit weak in the nose, mostly caramel malt, some toffee and yeast, but also a faint hint of Christmas spices. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, toffee, yeast, bread, dry fruit and mild Christmas spices like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and clove. Low bitterness and some dry fruit. Medium body and average aftertaste with the same spice flavor and sweet caramel. Nothing spectacular, but decent as a spicy ale without overdoing anything.

On tap @ the brewpub. Dark brown body with a moderate sized, lacing beige head. Aroma of dark malt, slightly roasted, caramel, some dark chocolate and dry fruit. Flavor is smooth, dark malt, some roast, dark chocolate, coffee, dry fruit and well balanced bitterness. Fine body and rich in aftertaste with nice bitterness. A solid malty Christmas beer with decent bitterness that should go well together with Christmas food, barbeque or just alone as it is.

400ml, as Saras Julesnadder, poured from tap at Café Sara. Near clear, brown-red body colour. Filmy layer, nice lacework at the upper level of the glass. Moderate aromas of earthy malts joined by a spicy touch. Cocoa and dark spicy flavours with mild dark chocolate towards the ending. Velvety smooth in the mouth. Fine bodied. A little floury. Satisfying Christmas feel (Oslo 25.11.2013).

Fra fat på DSJT på Cardinal nov-13: flott, tett skum. Litt bitter aroma og mye bitterhet i den fyldige smaken. Dette er bra saker, og som en av fire fikk en ekstra stjerne i margen denne fantastiske kvelden.

Star anis, in aroma and taste. A bitterness in aftertaste that taste more like malt bitterness.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark ruby colour, large and creamy beige head. Dryish roasty aroma, some woody notes. Nice malty and roasty flavour, fairly dry, coffee and woody notes, sweet liquorice in the finish, spicy notes too. Not bad.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a lightly hazy body, brown in color and with a small, dense, beige head leaving some curtains. It’s roasted on the nose, with unspecified dark dried fruits, pine cones and some bonfire hints. Toffee too. It’s quite bitter in the mouth, with a pleasant sweetness. Toffee, dried fruits and roasted flavors too. It’s full-bodied, pleasantly carbonated and with some faint alcohol warmth. Lasting roasted finish with a nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. It’s not the beer that gives me that perfect Christmas feeling, but it’s sure a nice beer. Faintly metallic too in the end, almost undetectable, but mostly overpowered by the bitterness. 131109
