This beer is a light bodied, easy drinking ale. We use real raspberries late in fermentation, giving this beer a mild fruit flavor while keeping a very balanced malt profile. This may not be what some would expect from a “fruit” beer, but our brewers make good beer; not fruity, carbonated malt beverages. Our motto is, “beer first, fruit second”.

tap at the brewpub - Pours orange and has a big raspberry aroma. Raspberries clearly dominate the flavor as well with some mild malt presence and very little hops. This ale is medium bodied and lively on the palate with a refreshing finish.

This brew pours a yellow-gold color with a thin off-white head and spotty lacing. The aroma is like raspberry sherbet. Light-bodied and crisp with tart artificial raspbetry flavor and an underlying bitterness. The finish is fruity with a bit of malt, and the raspberry aftertaste does not last. This beer is passable and unmemorable.

Amber color with a slight raspberry lemonade-type tint to it. Aroma is not that great. Raspberries are there, but surrounded by a bit of a bitter/sour aroma that I’m not sure about. Given my hestitations with the scents, the flavor isn’t that bad. Not perfect, but the raspberries don’t kill it, there is no horrendous sour flavors, etc. The aftertaste is decidedly sour and probably a low note. The raspberry adds a complexity that the beer really needs... without it it would be totally unremarkable. With the berries it is tollerable, but still a little lackluster.

2004 bottle. Awesome appearance. Bottle conditioned, completely hazy, with a rosy-red/peachy hue, light but colorful and a thick white head and lacing. Aroma is light, touch of yeast and mainly a drier, fresh raspberry puree smell. Flavor is extremely fresh and tastes exactly like raspberries, no artificial notes. Hardly any sweetness, touch of sourness from the yeast and berries, no hops perceptible. Body is light, as it should be for a light fruit ale. Amazingly drinkable on a hot summer day. Well-made, sure it could use more malt and flavor, but I liked it for what it was.

A most interesting pour! The body is peach-colored, cloudy, and full of particulates. Pop-like fizzy carbonation quickly subsides, leaving no head. Aroma is slight and sweet, and the flavor is raspberry (you guessed it) and slight tang, with little complexity. A pleasant enough sip, designed (consciously or not) for the fan of "Clearly Canadian" soft drinks. Otherwise, not very heavy on the "beer."
