Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a nice early August weeknight after a warm run. Appearance is a moderately clear gold with a modest white head. Aroma is heavy on citrus, of course it is. Taste is very good, heavy on orange peel, medium bitterness, light grapefruit. Well done.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 6/20/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, papaya, lemon/orange rind, pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and fairly bready/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this a fantastic IPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and easy to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Tap at Revolution. Clear golden with white head. Massive Citra hops with lime, grass and some haze marijuana. Lots of lovely matching malts with some caramel, fresh baked bread, cookies. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied with slight sugary feel. Very good.

Pours bright clear gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet tropical fruit aromas. Medium bodied with sweet mango and papaya upfront turning to caramel before the grapefruit pith finish.

20th September 2015
Hazy gold amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy with mild fine carbonation. Light malts, mild creamy sweetness. Decent orange hops, mildly spicy. Touches of floralness and mango, more tropical fruits well buried. Light semi dry finish. Nice.

Citra hero... Are you kidding me? Could this day get any better? So I’m a little jazzed up about this one, which could be a catastrophe if it doesn’t pan out. Pour is ok so far... A nice light orange with s touch of haze and a thin head. Aromas are unexpectedly grassy with a little bit of peach or something. That’s not what I was thinking would happen there... Flavor is really interesting and I am trying to figure it all out. It’s really lovely, but not quite what I hoped for. Here’s what I get: first punch is fruit, I would say peaches that transition to cantaloupe. From there it gets a bit grassy and a little bit skunky and herbal but then things straighten out fairly quickly for a tropical fruit medley in the finish. ABV is nicely hidden and just a hint of warmth is there. Mouthfeel is smooth and has a slight tingle from the carbonation in the late finish. Very fine beer, but it doesn’t match my Citra expectations.

Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Clear dark golden color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of pineapple, grapefruity hops and toasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering fruity hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

A golden ipa with a thin white head. In aroma, loads of citra hops, catty and citrusy, resinous, beautiful. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with nice citrus pulp, floral and catty hops, alcohol warmth, nice. On tap at brewery.
