Bottle from Gulating. Beautiful, almost clear borwn body under a solid, dense tan head. Nice aroma of smooth dark malt, chocolate, traces of coffee, toast and just a hint of toffee. Taste follows up the aroma, super smooth malt, pleasant level of chocolate, toast, nutty and moderate bitterness. Surprisingly well balanced for the alcohol strength. Nice aftertaste. A surprisingly well made, tasty and smooth brown ale at moderate alcohol strength. Sensible use of lactose, just for the balance and not dominating the flavors.

Bottle. A dark brown beer with a small light beige head. Heavy aroma, especially considering the ABV. Nutty, some chocolate and burnt wood, hints of dried fruits, and some toffee. Some evidence of lactose too. It's full bodied and softly carbonated, rather dry, yet with some sweetness in the flavor. Dark caramel, roasted nuts, coffee grit hints, some chocolate and a touch of dark dried fruits. Lasting finish, with lots of flavors from the dark malts. Delicious. 200422

200ml draught at Antikvariatet. Off-white head to a mahogany coloured body, spotty lacing. Mid-dry malty aroma, nuts and bread. Similar taste profile of dark bread, nuts and moments of chocolate malts. Mid-dry malt-driven end. Medium bodied. Pretty nice. (Trondheim 14.09.2019).
