Over many years he refined the art of Herefordshire cider making. Today, Henry Weston Vintage Cider is crafted only from apples grown in a single year’s harvest in the three counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire & Worcestershire. The cider is then slowly matured in aged oak vats to deliver a smooth and rounded cider, with exceptional character.

Bottle at home picked up from Sainsburies. A clear pale yellow green coloured pour with a lasting hlao of white head. Aroma is semi sweet woody fruit, apple and pear, light farmyard note. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, pear, woody apple, spicy bark, parifin, hint of funk, warming alcohol, , light vanilla. Palate is semi sweet, light tannin, moderate carbonation. Pretty good.

Bottle from Morrisons, Leeds. Clear golden with a small carbonation. Its strength is noticeable, but its fruit is stated enough to enjoy, as well as its good smoothish texture. Its nose certainly has an alcohol infusion to it, so does its aftertaste.

First Perry, not just first rated - always avoided because I supposed they would have to be very dull. Bought as a sighter. Bottle, a cold. 6C. Clear gold. First sniff is encouraging: apples as well as pears, some flowers, wood, some peel. Medium bodied, very nicely judged lowish carbonation. Has a hint of that blousiness slightly over-ripe pears can have (possibly held in check by the coldness). Sweet with some astringency and a bit of wood at the end. The pears are not intensely flavoured but are not without character. Not bad at all.

Bottle at home, 21/06/16. Rich golden pour with a decent off White head that dissipates in due course. Nose is apple orchard, light smoke, straw, pear drop. Taste comprises light pear esters, apple pie, straw, toasted brown sugar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Ok.

500ml bottle in the Leaping Salmon, berwick-upon-tweed, whilst waiting for the pubs with a decent ale range to open! Pours clear pale yellow with no head. Aromas of sweet pears, pear drops almost. Taste is light sweet, becoming cloying down the glass. Both thin and sticky, strangely. Leaves a chalky aftertaste, but not entirely unpleasant.

Many thanks to Rian for sharing! Smooth neutral nose. The Perry starts sweetish with tart tannin pears. Not too much depth, fresh sourish. The pears are there a bit aromatic in the background. Smooth fruity sourish, but I miss the intense pears. Rich but not deep, tannins, winey fruit, but not too much pears. Hints of alcohol, round. Interesting!

Bottle at home. Clear golden. Aroma of pears, a bit of wood, a mild sulphury note and an alcohol note. Sweetish and slightly tart flavor, a bit vinous, with pears, some wood notes and mild alcohol. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Bottle, clear deep yellow color, woney aroma with some fruitiness, fruiry pear flavor, almost completely dry and quite harsh but mellows with a light sweetness as it warms up. Nice but one dimensional.
