(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2017) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty nose with chocolate, dark bread and caramel. Malty, wheaty taste with notes of chocolate, bread, banana, hay and a gentle bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, but the fresh hops tend to disappear in the malt and wheat. Quite enjoyable.

0.75 l bottle from ’Speciaalbierpakket.nl’, bottled in October 2016. Just slightly hazy, very dark reddish brown with a large, foamy, stable, beige head. Faint, sweetish, slightly fruity and a bit spicy aroma of caramel, raisins, prunes and brown sugar. Rather sweet, malty and slightly spicy taste of caramel, raisins, prunes, brown sugar and hints of licorice, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly spicy finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite nice, too sweet and a bit bland though. Not sure where the promised wet hops were hidden.
