Letter of Marque is a full-bodied and warming barley wine. An English classic aged on extremely exclusive Rivesaltes wine barrels (French port) for 6 months. They are produced in almost the same way as port wine, where alcohol is added to stop fermentation. They then sunbathe in open air for two years in glass balloons two years before being matured in oak barrels for decades (up to 80 years !!!).

Draft @ Bishops Arms Gustav, Malmö. Pours a dark brown black color with an off-white head. Has a fruity malty woody dark fruit and caramel aroma. Fruity malty woody dark fruit and caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty woody dark fruit and caramel finish.

On tap at Bishops Arms - Malm� (Gustav Adolfs Torg), pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of port barrels, dark dried fruits, and toasted dry caramel. Flavour is rich and port-forward, with a lovely port barrel character upfront, dry dark fruit, and toasted caramel. Wonderful port barrel character. Excellent barley wine.

Svart. Middels høyt lysebrunt skum som daler sakte. Tydelig rødvinsaroma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken karamell, mere rødvin & litt tørket frukt. Tørr, lett bitter avslutning.

Kolasvart med lys brunt skum. Lukter svisker, mørk stenfrukt, karamell og noe trevirke. Fyldig. Fløyel. Smaker alkohol, svisker, kaffe, mørk sjokolade og noe brent karamell. Middels lang.

Appearance: cloudy deep bronze with a decent head. Aroma: dried apples and pears, treacle, caramel, toffee, vinous notes. Taste: moderately sweet, fruity. Vinous. Dried apples and pears, caramel, toffee. Some hop. Light to medium ending bitterness. Mouth feel: medium to full body, soft carbonation. Summary: good stuff.

Fiskåbanen KG 311021. Dark brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is raisin, alcohol, caramel. Flavor is raisin, alcohol, caramel, malt, dried fruit, wood, sugar, chocolate. Very nice beer.

Couleur acajou, col fin blanc-cassé.
Arôme reste dans une lignée de barley wine complexes - exécution parfaite de Nogne qui se sent de suite - fruits secs, et fruits noirs, malt caramel, chocolaté, pâle avec un rétro légèrement oxydé de la barrique.
Palais est déjà bien boozy, mais dans un bon sens. Retrouve une complexité de barrique qui se prête bien au jeu avec un léger caractère vin cuit/fortifié dans la lignée du Sherry ou Porto. Je note des pointes de fruits secs - raisins, divers fruits à coques avec un fini sec et poussiéreux.

Clear deep red to chestnut brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: malty, caramel, dried fruits, earthy, humus, raisins, bit of a sourish impression. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: surprisingly very acidic! Lots of dried fruits, raisins, rather oxidized, fruity, some caramel notes, vanilla, rather sweet, alcohol noticeable. Aftertaste: little sourish, dry touch, bitter finish with some dried fruits.
