440ml can from lowcostbeer.com, consumed around 6 weeks past BBE. Pours black, small tanned head. Aroma of strong liquorice so I guess the star anise is dominate here. Some chocolate, vanilla and booze notable. Star anise dominate in the taste, very licoricey and finishes with a strong overbearing bitterness. The middle bit with tonka, vanilla and cacao should have a nice mellowing effect to the rest of the beer but they are barely noticeable. Nah not for me, for an imperial stout this is bad, worst I've had to date.

Big ass aniseed bomb. Fairly light body, but smooth enough, some roast, bit of coffee, and aniseed. Tonka there as well, which clashes a bit with the rest. Not tasting bad, but totally no balance. Silly, although I guess that might have been the goal.

440ml can via LowCostBeer: BB 30th Apr 2021. Drank at home on 8th Jun 2021, so five weeks after it's BBD. Viscous black pour, tanned topping. The Star Anise ruled both the nose and taste, not overpoweringly though, but it definitely held the upper hand over the vanilla, cacao and vanilla. Really enjoyed it, a great nightcap after an afternoon and early evening of wine drinking!

Can at home. Pours black, nose is aniseed, roasted, chocolate, taste is similar, way too much aniseed.

Black with a small tan head. Aroma has some pretty full on aniseed upfront, they might have gone a little overboard with the star anise. Even the non-too-subtle tonka takes second place against it, followed by chocolate, coffee notes and vanilla. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation. It’s a little much, but there’s a nice picture of a dog on the can.

Can sample at a tasting at Yana's place. Black. Lots of arak (anise), sweetish, very spicy, a bit of cocoa, some unpleasant spicy bitterness. Really note my thing.

Can picked up from Beer Gonzo, webshop, Earlsdon, Coventry, as part of the Advent Calendar Box. We had Thai Green Curry and Loz made Spring Rolls now listening to Tom Ravenscroft on 6 Music, Friday 22nd January 2021. Pours black with a light beige head, aroma is heavy on chocolate, star anise, liquorice, and to a much lesser extent tonka and vanilla, these are duplicated in the mouth but sadly the star anise completely ruins it, really far, far too heavy handed, cannot finish this. Wander Beyond can do so much better than this, it's a mess.
