Blikje gedeeld met Tomhendriksen. Geel troebel bier met matig schuim. Aroma van citrusvruchten en hop. Smaak is fruitig (mandarijn, appel, banaan) maar ook iets zurig en hoppig. Nasmaak is licht bitter.

Blik gedeeld door Inoven. Het is een troebel bleekgeel bier en een wit schuim. Het heeft een fruitige mango en passievrucht achtige geur. De smaak is harsig, volle tropische fruitige tonen en hoppig in de afdronk

Double NEIPA by Uiltje, a highly influential craft brewery in the Netherlands that was recently sold to macro-brewing Bavaria, to the astonishment and disappointment of many in the craft beer community that helped Uiltje become as big and successful as it is; one can wonder how loyal these craft beer drinkers will remain to the brand (I doubt it – also when I listen around in the Dutch craft beer community). That said, the days of bold stouts, barleywines and ‘eisbocked’ beers were already gone anyway, having been replaced by one APA after another IPA (always very decent but perhaps a bit tiresome in the end), which I am sure will be able to reach a larger audience through the support of Bavaria’s production facilities and distribution network (and through the sales at Albert Heijn supermarkets, which were already in place before the takeover). We will see how this all evolves, but I would not be surprised if this Owl Bundy – courtesy of Craftmember – would be my last Uiltje ever… Anyway: egg-white, irregularly edged, frothy, thick and stable head on a cloudy apricot yellow-blonde beer. Luscious, mouth-watering aroma of orange blossom, sweet mandarin, granadilla, lemon zest, starfruit, freshy whipped cream, Key lime pie, lychee, hint of Grand Marnier. Sultry, juicy onset, very citrusy but considerably tropical too, lots of mandarin, pomelo, lychee and some passionfruit, softishly carbonated but still with refreshing minerally hints here and there, full and bit creamy, smooth body. Some powdery breadiness, otherwise doughy middle immediately soaked in a wave of tropical yellow-orange fruit, with mandarin, starfruit, lychee and Key lime returning very convincingly and brightly, briefly interrupted by a touch of gin-like alcohol which fortunately retreats quickly; hop bitterness all the while remains very soft and accessible, could have been more for me, but it is still there from a mere structural viewpoint and I had NEIPAs with less of it. All things considered, a beautifully radiant, summery, refreshing NEDIPA – I should have chosen another Uiltje for the occasion, perhaps, because this one surely makes it hard to say goodbye.

Can from Beers@Moviefun, Bruges. Hazy yellow, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of dank peach, lychee, mandarin, pineapple, sorbet, fresh onion, vague sweat. Taste has sweet peach, pineapple & mandarin, quite juicy, bitterish citrus peel, zesty lime and soft doughy maltiness. Floral hoppy finish, bit peppery, bit dank, lingering ripe tropical fruits and warming gin-like alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Textbook NEIPA almost, not Uiltje's best but who cares. Cool label!

Bonuspunten daarvoor

Can at home. Hazydeep yellow golden with small white head. Pineapple, papaya, lots of oats, juicy hops, marzipan, oats, sugary, grapes. Quite sweet, almost medium bitter. Over medium bodied. Bit on the sweet side for me but a decent modern NEIPA.

44cl Blik van Slijterij de Laat. Lichttroebel bleekgouden kleur, witte kraag. Zacht, medium zoet, fruitig, perzik en abrikoos inderdaad, wat citrus, licht bloemig, druiven, licht-bittere finish. Medium body. Ingetogen DIPA, redelijk typisch voor de Fresh&Fast serie, maar toch echt wel smaakvol als je er even voor gaat zitten.

Fairly hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of pineapple jumps out of the can with tropical fruits like passionfruit, unripe starfruit and melon. A strange light gluey nite comes up behind. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Hazy, pale yellow color and a small white head. Very fruity nose, lots of mango and tangerine, lactose twist. Smooth mouthfeeling, juicy. Taste follows the nose. Nice hoppy balance, slightly bitter-fruity finish.
