Have drunk this on occasion before, but not rated it. Cask at Posada, Wolverhampton. Pours a dark amber with a small foamy white head and good lacing. Exudes a slightly sweet malty aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with flavour of malt load and dark fruits with underlying hints of caramel and vanilla. Finish is fairly sweet too. A nice solid traditional bitter – of the kind that is becoming all too rare.

Russet brown with a creamy white head and a faint sweet fruit malt aroma. Semi-creamy mouthfeel, with mild bitterness, some caramel notes and fruit malt flavour, and a dry finish

Bottle from The Co-Op, Cirencester Services. Pours a clear copper colour with a thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel and toasty bread. Taste has more caramel, toasty bread with added toffee, sweet malts and a hint of tea. Light to medium body with a smooth oily mouthfeel. It’s ok.

(Bottle) Dark amber colour with brief, foamy, tan head. Malty, slightly hoppy nose with notes of caramel, toast, apricot marmalade and dried fruit. Malty nose with caramel, apricots, orange, toast and a mild, spicy/earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, solid English bitter. Nice one.

500ml bottle. Decent amber pour and thickish head. A malt and biscuit flavour with a mild bitter finish. Not picking up much of the dark fruity notes. Tastes ok but a bit dull.
