Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, cola brown. Ring and island of dense, tan head. Nose has savoury smoke. Chocolate fudge. Some vine fruit. Taste is smoky sweet, with some vinous bitterness. Medium body. Soft carbonation. A little drying. Smoky finish. 10 grains, but the smoked overwhelms.

Cask at Keans Head, Nottingham. Pours jet black with a tan cap. Aroma: rich roasted malts, coffee & smoke. Taste: light to moderate sweet, lots of dark chocolate, some coffee & toffee, smoky spices. Medium to full body, moderate carb, great chewy mouthfeel, dry bitter finish. A lovely stout, loads of flavour

Cask at the Reading Beer Festival. Black with a tan head. Lots of smoke, leading to black coffee and a spicy kick in the finish. Excellent full-flavoured stout, really enjoyed this one.
