Big bottle from Thirsty liquor on Waiheke at our Vrbo. Clear copper pour with fine white head. Aroma is pine resin hops, more west coast style, biscuit malt. Taste follows - pine resin bitterness with strong malt to support, some sweetness and biscuit bite. Quite solid.

(Can) Pours clear golden with good dense long-lasting white head. Lovely aroma of pine and orange. Medium body with plenty of soft carbonation. Great taste. There’s hoppy bitterness from start to finish. And it is very nicely balanced with a rich light caramel sweetness. And the orange citrus notes break through now and then. There’s a bit of alcohol bite too. Excellent beer.

Clear gold blond to orange beer, creamy dense off-white to yellowish head, little stable, bit adhesive, some lacing in the glass. Aroma: ripe tropical fruits up front, some mango and lychee, tropical fruits, bubble gum, apricots. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malty backbone, some caramel malts, ripe sweet fruits, mango and papaya, some banana. Aftertaste: malty, soft bitterness, very well balanced, bit resinous, more bitter, grapefruit in the finish.

Bottle from random liquor store, drank at Trounson Kauri Park Campground. Hazy golden with almost white head. Dank hops, soft grapefruit, grassy, lots of caramel, lemon drops, soft apple, quite some bitter fruit skins and resinous bitter flowers. But over medium sweet and pretty bitter. Bit over medium bodied. Thick classic US style strong IPA, goes down super well.

500ml bottle. Pours gold with a small white head. Aroma is glorious sweet floral mango and papaya with a touch of floral pine. Flavour is surprisingly sharp, with a little tartness coming through with the tropical fruit, giving a passionfruit type flavour. Also some grassy sweetness in the finish. This is big flavour and just lets those NZ hops sing. Really quite delicious.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy slightly dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, a little pine, and a sweet caramel malt backbone. Flavour is quite juicy, with tropical stone fruits, piney hops, a little resin and caramel bready malt. Prominent astringency on the finish. Well-balanced with a juicy finish. Really nice stuff, just a tad chewy and thick for an IPA.

Growler. Clear, almost luminous golden amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of gooseberries, passionfruit, cut grass, tinned peaches, mandarins, honeyed hay, menthol, pepper. Sweet and very fruity with hayish pale malt that’s for me not quite up to holding the fruit and pine/ menthol notes together. It ends up tasting a bit fumey. The herbal and pine notes do succeed in stopping it from being sickly though. Good but not quite to my taste.
