The conjunction of warming spice and malty esters entwined with peppery Goldings hops rounds into a pleasing bitter with an alcohol rich splendour.

17/01/2020. Cask at the 11th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Pours clear copper amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, hops, malt, fruit, biscuit and yeast. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Touch spicy and piney to finish. Pretty good.

Bottle from 3at3 Cafe, taken at home. Red-brown, cloudy with a small tan head and a bit of visible carbonation. Light toasty and nutty aroma with a metallic note, not much to it unfortunately. Tastes gorgeous though: sweet and sugary with raspberry caramels and marzipan. Cherry brandy, yeast rolls and toffee chews in the aftertaste. Full body with fizzy carbonation. Pretty special.

Hazy reddish amber beer, small cream colour head. Smooth and semi dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Malts are semi dry and sweetish. Ripe berries and marmalade. Modest spice and a trace of licorice. Smooth and semi dry finish brings a little warmth. Not bad.

Bottle, picked up in Norfolk late last year. Don’t recall exactly where from. Mostly clear, dark red. Ring of beige. Nose has cracknel toffee. Stem ginger. Some chewy toffee. Some red berry. Taste is a little sweet, with a light, raw berry bitterness. Medium body. A bit overly fizzy. Some stewed fruit sweetness to finish. Been in the cellar rot box for a while, but I’ve quite enjoyed this one.
