Bottle from B&M. Pours amber with a large foamy head. Aroma of caramel malt, and mildly hoppy. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Bland compared to ’Robber’.

Bottle from B&M, Ashton Gate. Deep gold with a thin, white, head. Sweet cereal malt, hay and leafy hop aroma. Flavours of heavy malts, hedgerow fruits and a degree of earthiness, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Didn’t quite come together, but I have had a lot worse.

Bottle from Crafty Pint. Appearance - golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - earthy and resiny. A pungent fruit note, slightly citrus and slightly tropical too. Taste - very pungent again and lacking fresh fruit. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a cloying odd finish. Overall - does not resemble the golden ale style at all. Criminale is the word alright.

33oml bottle: BBD Jun 15. The first of the three criminal beers I am drinking tonight. Poured into a ’Good People’ badged glass from Birmingham, Alabama. Clear golden body with loads of carbonation bubbles rising towards the full white blanket of a head above. More hops than malts in the nose and taste with mild floral and mini-citrus notes overpowering the light malty base. Crisp twang to the beer and although not strong in any real flavour it is a pleasant enough thirst quencher and first beer of the evening: hope it’s two stable mates are more interesting though.
