Bottle. Grote Dorst. Light haze on a pale, ginger gold. Ring of white foam. Nose has notes of sherry steeped raisin. Polished leather. Touch of antiseptic. Some minty herb. Taste is a little tart and dry. Hint of raisin sweetness. Virtually no acidity here. Very silky and silly easy drinking. Light prickle on the tongue. Lightly tart finish reminds you this isn’t actually a bottle of pop that you might chug in minutes. Great beer.

From bottle @ Carnivale Brettanomyces. Golden color. Oak, oloroso sherry aroma. Moderately sour flavor, oaky with oloroso sherry and grapes. Funky. Great!

Lambic blend aged in an oloroso sherry barrel, thanks Kermis and Maakun for sharing at Foeders during Carnivale Brettanomyces. Eggshell-white, thin and bubbly, open, mousy edge of a head, lacing in shreds over a hazy apricot-hued golden blonde beer. Aroma of damp haystacks, horseblanket, lots of dry sherry indeed, sour peaches, grape peel, sourdough, unripe apricot, wet wood, dry white wine, wet leather, grass silage, raspberry vinegar. Estery onset, green gooseberries, sour grapes, very subtle apricot-sweetish touch underneath, lively but soft and refined fizz, refreshing lemony acidity but still maintaining enough smoothness and slick ‘wheatiness’, ending dry and tannic with a streak of sherry vinegar, long, quenching and subtly earthy. Fantastic geuze-ish sour ale, Raf Soef’s genius at work, again. If only his pieces of art – I hesitate to call his best creations simply ‘beers’ – were more widely available…

Bottle shared at Foeders with Kermis and others, thanks for sharing these! Nice to share my rating number 10.000 (or so, the order is not really correct) at a great place like this with nice people. Awesome. Hazy deep golden with white head. Thick deep sherry with lots of oxidized notes, walnuts, caramel, toffee, funk, mineral, lemon, CO2, hazelnuts, honeyed peanuts, more deep cellar funk. Medium sweet and sour, light bitter. Medium bodied with mouthcoating carbonation. Thanks again for the ride and for sharing all these beers over the years nice people of Ratebeer!
