This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition ’cause this ghost is a creeper.

Keg at Brewdog Seven Dials, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, caramel. An excellent rich tasting imperial stout.

Keg at BD Tower Hill. Coffee and Liqourice aroma with underlying dark fruits. Dark and glossy. Cola brown in the sunlight. Creamy beige head. Medium bitter. Coffee and hint of liqourice. A creamy edge. Burnt caramel into the finish. Mesium bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Decent coffee loaded Stout. Perhaps too rich for larger servings but did not realise it was an Impy.

The Aromas are lots of sweet roast, unfortunately molasses, and a little bit of candy sugar. Flavors are very much like nose, roasts stands out sort of sweet and thankfully molasses are toned down. Little bitterness and more roast in the Finish. Good body carbonation. Nice beer.

375 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head. Aromas of dark sugar and roasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional wood and nutty chocolate. Emphasis on roasted malts. A little oily with slight creamines. Quite nice but expecting a lot more.

From a 375ml bottle on 19/2/2019. Pours a deep brown with almost no head. The nose features coffee, caramel and lots of molasses. It is very dessert like in the mouth - heaps of caramel and toffee, some chocolate, and treacle, with a touch of toast and soy. The sweetness is met by mild roasty bitterness which provides a decent amount of balance. The body is bit thinner than the typical impy. the carbonation is moderate. Very nice stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, light yeast, charred wood, ash. Taste is chocolate, roast, light liquorice. Silky mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. Tasty, and quite balanced, a rather old school one.
