Imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with coconut, almonds, cocoa powder, and milk sugar

This barrel-aged confection stout is a reflection of our affection for a particular chocolate, coconut, and almond candy bar. Unwrap and chew into thick, rich layers including roasty notes of chocolate, freshly toasted coconut, and hints of almond. This viscous, full-bodied treat is quite a joy to the palate.

Bottle, 0.75l, shared with Jürgen. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, oak, bourbon, coconut and almonds. Pours pitch black color with thin creamy light brown head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, chocolate and nuts, follows by bourbon and dried fruity acidity while mouthfeel is smooth with warm alcoholic finish. Full body, thick syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Hell of a ride, even without Roxette…

Bottle, 75cl. A black one, with a finger-thick tan head. Sort of oily. The aroma is quite alcoholic, with a good dash of coconut. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, nuttyness, some vanilla and brown sugar, hints of toffee and even more boozyness. It's full-bodied, warming and lightly sticky on the palate, with lots of sweet flavors. Dark chocolate, roasted malts, cocoa hints, nuts and alcohol. And lots of coconut. And some vanilla. Lasting finish, really lasting. A delicious one indeed, but it's too alcoholic and in my opinion too much on the coconut side. 211106

Bottled at Goblet ZG. Zdenko the Professor most kindly shared his share! Pitch black body, off white head. Fantastic coconut-chocolate combo in the taste, Bounty, only maybe better than Bounty, smooth, some malty touches too. Bounty in the taste, the choc-coconut combo just owns everything, lean, some full maltiness, simple perhaps, but delectable. Really glad to have tried it!
